Peter Perry Obituary

Peter G. Perry 1941 ~ 2011 Peter G. Perry died on October 7, 2011 from complications of an aortic dissection. He was born on October 14, l941 in Denver, Colorado. At the age of 10, the family moved to Boise, where he attended Lowell Elementary, North Junior High and graduated from Boise High School in l959. He attended University of Colorado, and after graduating and spending two years in the Navy, he married Kyleene Thompson of Twin Falls, and together they raised two children, Kevin and Karen. He began a long career at various banks in Boise, retiring from Wells Fargo Bank in 2009. Peter never met a stranger—he was interested in everyone and when given a chance, would talk as long as anyone would listen. He loved riding the city bus and spending his mornings at Dawson's Coffee Shop with his friends and working on crossword puzzles. He loved volunteering at St. Michael's and the Diocese of Idaho, and the friendships associated with it. His interests were broad and eclectic, including everything from the Grateful Dead, antique cars, Naval history, and being a lifelong and fervent fan of Colorado Buffaloes football. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald Perry and Elaine Steere, and is survived by his wife Kyleene Perry, children Kevin Perry and Karen (Eric) Streeby, grandson Flynn Streeby, and sister Penny Simons. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at St. Michael's Episcopal Cathedral, 8th and State Street, Boise. A reception will follow at the Bishop Tuttle House. Arrangements are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman, Boise, Idaho 83705. God be with you 'till we meet again.

Peter you made me feel like I had family away from home. I will miss our morning conversations at the bus stop, and your "Happy Friday" greetings. Thanks for always holding me accountable for my studies here at BSU and taking the time to give me advice. We still never finished the story about the tree you planted at the house in the North End. I hope its still there. :-) The best stories though were always about your wife and children, because your face glowed when you talked about them.
Thanks for being like a Grandpa to me. I promise I'll wear real shoes come winter and not flip-flops lol
Lots of love to your family and best wishes.

Thank you, everybody, for the kind words about my dad. He had so many friends, and Dean Demarest put it well at the service when he said that Peter was up there in heaven making all kinds of NEW friends and talking to everybody. I hope one of his Dawson Taylor buddies will continue on the "Happy Friday" tradition in his memory.
As for Gumby, it now resides on the streets of Bellevue, Washington with my brother at the wheel.

What can we say about Peter? He ususally said it all. He always had a great story to tell and a warm greeting each day by saying "Happy Friday" or what ever day it happened to be. He will be missed by all who know him.
Our thoughts to his great family.

We will miss Peter's quick walk through at lessons and his help at the recital. And that push mower powered by Peter. Will Gumby still make his appearance on the road?

We were so sorry to hear about Peter's death. What a terrible loss for all who were friends with him. He has been such a wonderful man to work together with as he was working to settle our mother's trust, as her designated Trustee. He worked so hard to make sure everything was being handled as it should. My mom,Betty Archibald along with my dad had some wonderful memories with Peter and Kyleen at the after church breakfasts.

He will be missed by many, but remembered for the friend that he was to all. May God be near to the Perry family in the days ahead and may your many memories of times spent together be of comfort to you all.

God Bless,
Paige Brown,Erica Johnson, Jeremy Brown and Perry Archibald

I have never met anyone quite like you, Peter Perry. I feel blessed to have spent weekday mornings with you for so many years while working at Dawson Taylor Coffee Shop, and you always knew better than to ask me for assistance with the crossword puzzles, only ever asking for coffee related words. :)
My fondest memory of you was when I was managing the shop and you and your wife were going to Seattle to visit family. You made a point to find me to give me 5 "of your crispiest" 1.00 bills and asked that I put a dollar in the tip jar for every day you were gone.
Each day you inspired me to be a better person. Thank you for all of the memories.
