Randy Fout Obituary

Randy Dale Fout was born Sept. 20, 1951 to Garland and Dorothy Fout in Santa Cruz, Calif. The third of five siblings arrived at the gate of heaven on Oct. 4, 2006 as a result of ÒDivine Appointment.Ó Randy´s family moved to the Treasure Valley when he was a toddler, making it his permanent home. Randy´s love for the outdoors, housing construction and church life were a natural fit in Idaho.Ê Education was also a natural fit for Randy, graduating from Meridian High School in 1969. Of course it didn´t stop there, the following list of accomplishments were of quite standing to Randy, but all leading to his God-given talents of teaching and working with young people;Ê 1969-1973 Boise State University (Social Work), 1973-1974 Hardin Simmons University, Abilene, Tex. (Bachelor of Science in Social Work), 1976 Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Mo. (Religious Education), 1977 Boise State University (Secondary Teaching Certificate), 1982-1994 College of Idaho (Masters of Education in Counseling 1987, Masters of Education in School Counseling 1994), University of Idaho (Educational Leadership Principal Certification 2002).Ê Randy began a lifelong love of teaching in 1982 in the Meridian School District; a legacy will gladly stand the test of time in his absence. While education was always important, it stood far down the list when compared to Randy´s personal faith as a born again Christian, as he faithfully served in Baptist churches around the valley. Behind his faith in God, Randy held his love of family in a very close second.Ê Successfully joining two household together, Randy married Mary Gwyn on Aug. 30, 1985.Ê Collectively, Randy´s children Nathan, Bob and Angie, began to experience the love of a Christian father, adventuresome traveler, guidance counselor and friend. Randy is survived by his wife, Mary Fout, father, Garland Fout, brothers Shay and Gordon, sister Debbie, children Nathan (Jennifer) Fout, Angie (David) Ellis and Bob (Tiffany) Gwyn, grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Ê Throughout his several accomplishments, Randy would want to be remembered as a God-fearing man who had tremendous love for others. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to a memorial fund in Randy´s memory at Idaho Central Credit Union, 1615 S. Celebration, Meridian, ID 83642. Donations will be divided among several Christian organizations, Young Life Camp sponsorships, and a building debt retirement program at Central Valley Baptist Church. The Memorial Service will be held at the Mountain View High School gymnasium at 4 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 11, 2006.Ê In honor of Randy the family would ask that everyone (male and female) attending would wear the ugliest tie possible. Arrangements are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, 466-3545.

Mary,
A new school year is upon us and as I walked down our halls I missed the friendly smile and kind words of encouragement from Randy. He will never be forgotten.

Just found out about his passing just now after looking through some Meridian High stuff. It's kind of a shock. I had him my Senior year in '91. The class was right after lunch, so my main objective was to sleep, but he made sure I didn't, either by making class real interesting or slamming a book down on the desk.

Deeply sorry to hear of his passing.

Mr. Fout was my most favorite teacher. I had him for 2 hours a day one year for a trial class where English and History were co-taught together by him and Mr. Harm. I think the class was called American Character? He seemed to have a genuine interest in my well being. I had troubles at home and he was always there to listen and offer advice, even offer a lending hand. I never forgot him and I never will. Hugs and prayers to his family.

Randy and I were very close, he was my uncle. I loved him very much! I knew that he was a great teacher, but I didn't know how much he meant to his students until his tragedy. I was amazed to hear how many people were at the funeral. God Bless you all! I know that Randy is with the Lord now and smiling down at us from heaven.

Mr. Fout will always have a place in my heart. I transferred into his government class when I first came to mountian View and being the only 10th grader in a class for 12 graders was already hard. Mr.Fout would always check on me and see how I was doing with class and the rest of my classes and always encouraged me to go talk to him about anything. Then for my last two years at Mountian View passinf him down the halls he would always stop me and see hopw I was doing and always letting me know I always had him if I needed someone to talk to or help with anything. To find out one day that this wonderful man that always looked out for me is gone but I know I'll see him again in heaven and he is watching over all of us. God needs Mr. Fout now and he will always live on in all of us every day.

We always looked to Mr. Fout for a smile, a friendly greeting, or support in any circumstance. By so many responses, we can see that he received as much love in life as he gave. We can only hope that we showed our thanks and love as eloquently as he did.
Thank you, Mr. Fout, for your example and your impact on so many lives.

Dear Mary and family,
We are saddened to learn of your loss of Randy. So many have been touched by his caring heart and ways. How thankful we are to have shared as fellow teachers and Young Life leaders with Randy many memorable times with students and dear friends. We regret that we are unable to attend his memorial service as we are in New England at this time. You know Tom's collection of ugly ties would be represented. We'll always remember "FRIday is TIEday".
Our sympathy, love and prayers,
Tom and Donna Swanson
