Ray Borders Obituary

RAY MARION BORDERS
1921 ~ 2015
Ray Marion Borders, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather crossed over Jordan on Monday, July 13, 2015. He passed away at home in Meridian, ID from heart failure.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1921 in Kenova, WV. He was the fifth of five sons to Naaman and Sarah Louise Borders. He married Mary Evelyn Pennington on Dec. 8, 1941 and they had four sons. Mary passed away on Nov. 8, 2000 in Dallas TX. He served his country as a career infantry and intelligence officer in the U.S. Army all over the world, to include WWII, Korea and Vietnam. His favorite military assignment by far was in South America as Senior Intelligence Advisor to the military of Paraguay. After retiring from the army in 1965 as a Lieutenant Colonel, he did many things, one of which was to serve as a National Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans. He was well read, a world traveler, spoke several languages and wrote two novels and several published articles. He especially enjoyed travelling in his RV. His enthusiasm for music, travel and adventure continued until his death. He was happiest when he was with his family. And when telling a good story. He often said that the Lord had been so good to him and that he was the luckiest man in the world.
He is survived by his loving wife, companion, friend and helpmate Barbara, whom he married on Oct 28, 2007; four sons, Richard (Ruth) of Boise, ID; Jack (Tessie), of Covington, WA; Michael (Diana) of Sebring, FL and Mark of Bullard, TX. He is also survived by extended family and countless friends. Everyone who met him liked and admired him.
He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Grand Prairie (Dallas), TX.
He often said, "When I get ready to leave this earth, I'm gonna look back for my money's worth."
And he got it!
