Mountain Home, Idaho - Brigadier General Retired Robert K. Lytle passed away on 21 Feb. 2023.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1960; he began a prolific Military career after graduating from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, class of 1982, as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army. In 1985 he wed the love of his life Jana Lurska in Germany.
He settled with his family in Idaho where he served in the Idaho National Guard. General Lytle served with distinction as a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM III.
General Lytle was a lover of U.S. military history, wood working, firearms, the English Language, and southern wit. He was a dear friend and father figure to countless people. His impact will leave an indelible mark upon his family, friends and military patriots.
General Lytle is survived by his wife, two children, his mother, two brothers, and two grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Dr. in Garden City. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2612 W. State St. in Boise. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 pm, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise.
