Ruth Lind Obituary

Ruth Elaine Lind, 95, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2010. She has lived in Vallejo and Benicia, Calif., for the last 15 years. Her son Wayne and daughter-in-law Tricia, and three grandsons, Hunter, Christian and Alexander, all of Benicia, and one sister, Marjorie who lives in Boise, survive her. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard, two sisters, Kathryn Harris and Dorothy Holton; and one brother, Ward Nielson. Ruth was born in Sagle, Idaho. Four siblings were born soon after. The family moved to a farm in western Washington and from there they moved to a farm in eastern Oregon. The five children all attended a rural school with one room and one teacher who taught all grades. Ruth and the other children attended high school in Ontario, Ore. Graduating from high school, Ruth moved to Boise and stayed at the Y.W.C.A. and worked for a large firm there and took classes at a business school. During this time, she married and moved to Sacramento, Calif., in 1937. Ruth gave birth to two sons, Richard and Wayne. Richard passed away at an early age in 1960. Ruth was employed by the State of California for 10 years, and then started working at an elementary school as a secretary, where she worked for 25 years until 1980 when she retired. She then returned to Boise to be close to her sisters and brother. In 1995, she moved back to California to be close to her son and his family.

Dear Wayne and Family, We are truly blessed to have these wonderful family members with us for so long. While the later times are often difficult, eventually it becomes easier to remember the full, vibrant lives our loved ones have had. Then we can again see them as they were living life, facing difficulties, laughing with relatives and friends, and raising us! God bless you and keep you.
