Scott Leadbetter
1959-2018
Scott Leadbetter, 59 passed away December 28, 2018 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Scott will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Scott was born on August 1, 1959 in St. Petersburg Florida to Wyamon (Cov) and Mildred (Billie) Covington. He was the older of two sons. Billie later married Don Leadbetter and being a military family, they lived in many places around the world including Japan and the Philippines.
Scott graduated from Wagner High School at Clark Air Force base in the Philippines in 1977 and later moved to Boise where he started his family and had two daughters, Krystina and Kariann.
Scott joined HP in 1978 where he held numerous leadership roles in Production and Facilities Management. While working at HP and raising two daughters, he also earned his business degree at Boise State University in Operations Management. Scott left HP and joined Jabil Circuit as the Facilities Manager. When Jabil closed, he joined Idaho Power as the Facilities Manager where he was currently employed. Scott was responsible for making sure all the company's facilities across Idaho ran smoothly and safely.
In 1993, Scott married the love of his life, Diane and was blessed with two step-sons, Jared and Joshua Rose, and became a strong example for them growing up. Later Scott became Grandpa to 7 grandchildren who adored and loved him very much.
Scott fought an 8 month courageous battle with bone marrow cancer, which included a bone marrow transplant. His brother Darryl was the donor which forged an even stronger bond between the two. After the transplant, Darryl would joke with Scott and say, "Now that you have my DNA, you're going to start restoring vintage cars, buy power tools, and take up fly fishing". Throughout Scott's illness he drew closer to many family members. He especially appreciated the love and support of Cov and Don.
As many know, Scott was a HUGE Alabama Football fan. He shared a special bond with his daughter, Krystina including both being die-hard Alabama fans. Scott influenced and recruited many more fans into the Roll Tide family. All the kids and grandkids cheered for the Crimson Tide.
Not only will Scott will be remembered as an avid Alabama fan (Roll Tide!), he also loved to golf, bowl and was the family barbeque master with his Traeger Grill (always loved doing tri-tip and ribs on the grill). He was learning to play guitar and ordered a new one to be sent to Arizona so he could continue to practice. He was a dedicated husband to his wife, father to his children, and was the best grandpa in the world to his grandchildren.
Scott and Diane loved spending time at their condo in Mesa, Arizona where the weather was warm and the golf was plenty. Not only will Scott be remembered as a passionate Alabama fan and family man, he will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor and jovial laugh.
Scott was a man of God and received much strength and comfort from the Lord. He loved the Lord Jesus and read scripture everyday when he was able to. He shared his faith and love of the Lord with many people on CaringBridge blog during his illness.
Diane and family thank everyone for their love, support and prayers over the past 8 months. The outpouring has been incredible.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother Billie, grandparents, brother-in-law Scott, and niece Victoria. He is survived by his fathers Don Leadbetter and Wyamon Covington (Cov) (Lois); wife Diane Leadbetter; children Krystina Leadbetter (Luke), Jared Rose, Joshua Rose (Heather) and Kariann Bohannon; brother Darryl Leadbetter (Wendy); grandchildren ShanaLe Rose, Myka Rose, Simon Rose, Zion Rose, Avery Rose, Charles Rose, Connor Manning; mother-in-law Sharon Johnson; sister-in-law Arlene Hardy; sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara and Tom Eisenberg and Shelly and Brian Davey; sister-in-law Tami Johnson and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 1pm at Summers Funeral Home at 1205 Bannock St., Boise ID 83702. Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the funeral at Owyhee Plaza, 1109 W Main St #260, Boise, Idaho.
