Shirley Reich Obituary

In the early morning hours of March 21, 2006, Shirley V. Reich passed away at her home after a 2 year battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Nebraska on August 16, 1934, to Ray and Mary Renz; moved to Marsing at a young age; and graduated from Marsing High School in l952. She retired after working 28 years for the State of Idaho, Motor Carrier Division and Liquor Law Enforcement. She retired to spend time with her best friend and husband, Norman, to whom she was married for 52 years. Their post-retirement years were filled with travel, friends and family. Shirley was happiest in the out-of-doors camping, gardening and picnicking. Shirley leaves behind her husband, Norman; her brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Eloise Renz of Rock Springs, Wyo.; sisters-in-law, Elnora Nichols of Boise, Esther Reich of Marsing, and Clara Leafgren of Nampa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edwin and Alma Reich of Eureka, S.D. Shirley´s nieces and nephews are many. Her friends and immediate and extended family loved spending time with Shirley and Norman. Shirley will be remembered by many of them for wonderful hours of family fellowship during the annual Reich reunion. She and Norman enthusiastically planned and hosted this gathering every year so that close family ties would continue. We all will fondly remember her as a happy, successful woman of great wisdom, strength, dignity. The family would like to thank Dr. Norman Zuckerman, the staff at St. Luke´s 4 South Unit and Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) who all gave such compassionate care. Viewing will be on Sunday evening at Dakan Chapel from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006, at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell, with Don Hardenbrook officiating. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Donations may be made to MSTI or a favorite charity in Shirley's name.
