Sidney Duncan Obituary

Sidney Duncan
1944 - 2013
Sidney Duncan, 68, of Meridian, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at her home, after a ten year fight with a rare condition that destroyed her capacity to walk, to eat and to speak. Her capacity to hear, understand and love remained sharp until her last minute when she squeezed her husband's hand - a sign that all was well.
Sidney was born on September 25, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By age 12 she was a surrogate mother to her two sisters, Linda and Debbie, and they were residents of a children's home in Florida. In her teens she married Tom Anderson, and had two children, Jeff and Melissa. After divorcing, she moved to Idaho with her children to start a new life. She worked for Boise Cascade and there she met her husband to be as he selected the open seat beside her in a meeting. Sidney married the love of her life, Dan Duncan in 1977, and became a step mom to Sue.
Sidney Duncan was a loving wife, mother of three, grandmother of eight, and sister. She loved God and all the paths placed in front of her. Sidney embraced life with incredible spirit! Sidney was a dare devil who loved sailing, bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, skateboarding, and scuba diving. She loved animals, reading and spending time with her sisters. Dan and Sidney had 35 years of amazing adventures. Their love is admired by all.
Sidney is survived by her husband, Dan Duncan; her son, Jeff Anderson and wife Sabrina, grandchildren, Zach, Rio, Aaron, and Emma; her daughter, Melissa Gilster-Duncan, grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, and Duncan; step daughter, Sue Huskey and husband Dan, and grandchild Ryan; two sisters, Linda Rearick, and Deborah Baughan.

We are so sorry to read of Sidney's death. We will remember her as full of life, full of love and understanding for her family, friends, and colleagues. Rita's worktime with Sidney was precious. She was the most observant, supportive and loving person with whom to spend time. She touched the lives of many.

Yellow roses, Elvis Presley, and shopping are some of the things she loved but most of all she loved her family. She has put a love stamp our hearts that will be there for eternity; a true friend and the world's most wonderful grandmother. Thank you for loving us!
