Steven Conway Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of a beautiful brother, son, and friend, Steven Gene Conway. Steve fought a difficult battle with colon cancer, and went on to be at one with God on Saturday, October 12, 2013. Steve was a loving brother, and son. And while events and circumstances within his life prevented him from having the capacity to be in the lives of his children, we can hereby speak on his behalf in saying that he was aware that his legacy and the best part of himself is living on within his children. And, through them, Steve's beauty will continue to be everlasting. Steve's courageous soul, peacefully, passed away in his sleep, at the age of 56 years old. At the time of his passing, Steve was residing with friends in Orem, Utah, and we would like to extend our gratitude to the Robert Kaiser family for the help and time they spent with Steve during his last days. Steven G. Conway was born in St. Charles, MO unto Alva Cleo Conway, and Dorothy Ruth Jamieson Conway. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Alva Cleo Conway – 12/2/1931 to 09/09/1981, and also his stepfather, Alvin L. Pettis – d: 1998. Steve is survived by his mother, Dorothy Pettis, of Meridian, ID; his brothers: Robert William Conway, 58 y.o. and sister-in-law, Laura, of Shoshoni, WY; Arthur Ray Conway, 47 y.o. and sister-in-law, Dixie, of Burley, ID; his sisters: Cathryn Sue Todd, 54 y.o., of Boise, ID; and Alva Darlene Child, 51 y.o. and brother-in law, Patrick Child, of Meridian, ID. Also surviving are Steven's children: his son Travis Conway (Amber), of DeBeque, CO., and grandchildren, Kendall, Braydon, and Malayna; His daughter Tera Mitchell Conway, of Grand Junction, CO, and grandchildren, Callie, and Cambrie; His daughter A1C, USAF Emili J. Conway Striggow, of Reno, NV. Steven was a United States Army veteran, who served 6 years within the HHC, 1st Bn, 67th Armor, and was honorably discharged in 1980. Throughout the course of his life he worked many professions; he worked positions from bussing tables as a young teenager, to long-haul truck driver, Alaska oilfield work that included: laborer, foreman, crane operator, pipe fitter and welder. Steve's lifestyle, Military Service, and work, took him to Germany, and many different states across the U.S., allowing him to see and do many things that a lot of us are left to only imagine. With his love for travel, adventure, and friends, it is now that he has completed his journey and finally found his place of peace and welcoming with our Lord in Heaven. God bless you, Steven, and forever rest in peace. You are forever loved, and forever held within our hearts, thoughts, and being. A graveside remembrance will be held with family and close friends at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th, 2013 at The Utah Veterans' Cemetery and Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to: Hope For The Warriors. For more information on how to donate, visit their website: http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org.

Not sure what to say?

How ironic! Steven passed into the presence of the Lord on the SAME day that my husband Jr. passed away. Jr. died at 11:30am on October 12.

Steve would call me and say, "Aunt Virgie, I want to come and see Uncle Jr. before he dies." I would tell him it was okay to just concentrate on getting well. Both of them were suffering and in pain, slowly slipping away. I can just see Steve in Heaven and in walks Jr. Wow! What a reunion! We may question the "why" of the Lords plan, but we can rest assured, his plan is perfect.

May he Rest in Peace. I have met Steven only once. After that I married his wonderful and handsome son. I am thankful for him because I have 3, amazing, beautiful children that were his grandchildren. Our son, Braydon, will carry on the Conway name. Grief can be so hard, but special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.
