Terry Arp Obituary

Terry Arp
September 19, 1946 - January 7, 2015
Our amazing husband, father, brother and friend, Terry Arp, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2015 at the age of 68. He valiantly battled a three year war with cancer, never giving up and always maintaining a positive and fearless attitude.
Terry was born on September 19, 1946 at St. Lukes, Boise, ID to Albert J. (Bud) Arp & Barbara Keating Arp. He attended Jefferson Elementary, South Junior High and graduated from Borah High 1964. He attended Boise Junior College and Oregon State University. Terry married Valerie Fisk in Boise September 1965 and from this union came his oldest son, Rick. He married Peggy Pleus in Clayton, ID October 1975. They were blessed with their daughter, Tara and another son, Jared. Terry married Cindy (Bailey) Eisenbarth in Laguna Beach March 2003. His bonus son, DJ, rounded out the family.
At an early age, Terry developed a passion for music that would carry on throughout his lifetime. In the early 60's, his band The Monarchs played around the valley. While in college at Oregon State, he performed with The Norsemen. The early 70's brought Today's Reaction. They performed regularly at the Bottle 'n Cork Lounge and other regional venues. He retired from music in the late 70's, but his love for his guitar never ceased.
During his music years, Terry started Arp Insurance Agency with his father, Bud, in 1970, specializing in personal lines insurance. He later began working on a unique professional liability program for dentists, which blossomed into a 38 year relationship with dental professionals in Idaho and Utah. In 1998, Terry and Cindy started their own agencies Terry R. Arp & Associates (formerly ISDA Benefits) and Professional Benefits and Insurance. Terry was devoted to his insureds and considered it a privilege to be working with them. He enjoyed counseling them through problems and concerns and felt very blessed with the trust they instilled in him. Terry actively worked throughout his illness. That work helped him stay mentally strong, allowing him to focus on others and not on himself.
Terry was a long standing member of the Boise Bench Lions Club (president 1980-81). He was also an active associate member of the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club (Boise Chapter), an organization of retired & active law enforcement, fire service & safety personnel. He also served on the board of directors for WITCO, Inc. (Western Idaho Training Company).
Terry is survived by his best friend and wife Cindy Arp; children Rick & Amanda Arp; Tara & Dennis Wurtz; Jared Arp & DJ Eisenbarth; grandchildren Cameron, Breanna, Kizziah, Takkiah and Daytona; in-laws Don & Kathy Bailey, Philip & Chris Joyal and Bob Estes. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sande Estes and stepmother Verna Morgan Arp. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Gamboa and staff and Dr. Ben Bridges and the Meridian MSTI staff for the compassionate care and friendships they extended to us. A very special thank you to Jason & Lara Haas for all of their support and being there for us each and every day through this difficult journey - we could not have done it without you.
Memorial donations may be made to Idaho-Eastern Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation
1090 N. Cole Rd., Boise, ID 83704 or WITCO, Inc., 3919 E. Ustick Rd., Caldwell, ID 83605.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 16th at 2:00 pm, Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1115 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise. Afterwards, the family invites friends to gather at Terry & Cindy's home, 1528 N. Creekfield Pl., Eagle, ID. Terry's request was for his friends and loved ones to have fun, so that is what we are going to do! Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral.com.

Dear Cindy and family,
I was so shocked to hear the very sad news of Terry's passing. I loved Terry like a brother. We met at Borah High School in 1963. I was fortunate enough and blessed to be the girl singer in his bands. The Monarch's and Today's Reaction. The BEST guitar player around. He was a gentleman and a wonderful person.
My heart goes out to you Cindi and family.
Your friends and God will help you through this difficult time.

Tara was one of my best friends as a child. I remember spending long weekends with the Arp family. Terry was always cracking a joke, making silly faces and strange noises, or just goofing around with us. I have so many fond memories of Terry, as he was such a happy-go-lucky guy. I am truly sorry for the family's loss. I may not know all of his family but know that you are all in my prayers during this difficult time.

I am shocked to hear of Terry's passing. I got to know Terry as the 5th grade teacher to his 2 older children - Ricky and Tara. I always looked forward to seeing the family for conferences, outings and "drop-ins" and fondly remember the day Jared was born! I so enjoyed Terry's passion for life, his sense of fairness, and his taste in music! I believe he lived life to the fullest. My heartfelt sympathy to the whole family for the loss of this wonderful man.

Cindy and family,

Terry was a great man. I got to try to catch his fast ball in little league. His south paw delivery seemed to come from right field. What fun we had. And...the Monarchs at Borah. Great music. See you soon. Steve Oliver, Borah '64

Cindy - Our loss is heaven's gain. Words cannot adequately express my condolences to you and your family. Terry was such a sweet and kind man, I never heard him say a mean word about anyone! Everytime we spoke he always took the time to ask how I was doing and ask about my family. The Professional Protector Plan for Dentist (PPP) is a better program because he was a part of it, He WILL BE MISSED. I love that Terry wants everyone to "Have fun" in remembrance of him,, that speaks volumes of the kind of man Terry was. I have some great memories of Terry from the PPP conferences over the years, he always made us all laugh.

My thoughts & Prayers are with the Arp family during this difficult time.
