Thomas Bracamonte Obituary

Thomas Bracamonte " The day will come when my body will lie upon a white sheet neatly tucked under four corners of a mattress located in a hospital busily occupied with living and the dying. At a certain moment a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function and, for all practical purposes, my life has stopped. When that happens, do not attempt to instill artificial life into my body by use of a machine. And don't call this my "deathbed" call this my "Bed of Life" and let whatever is useable be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives. Give my sight to a man that has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to a teenager who has been pulled from the wreckage of a car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist. Take my bones, every nerve and muscle in my body, and find a way to make a crippled child walk. Explore every corner of my brain. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain on her window. Take what is left and give to the winds to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all the prejudice against my fellow men. Give my sins to the devil and Give my soul to GOD. If by chance, you wish to remember me do it with kind deeds or words to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever." Tom was born on August 24, 1949 in Shafter, Calif. He left this Earth on Jan. 20, 2008. His passing came as a blessing and released all the pain he had determinedly fought for four years. His earthly family held him while he made his final journey to a place beside his savior. Thanks Doug and Thanks Eddie for letting him know you would be at the end, waiting, to guide him home. Tom is survived by his wife and soul mate Billie, his two loving daughters Carrie and Jaimee, his "son" Damon, his seven grandchildren, Kade, Hayley, Trey, Dominic, D'Andre, Isabella, and LaDainian. His mother and father Philip and Dee Bracamonte, His brother David and wife Celeste Bracamonte, his sister Mary and husband Jerry Harris ,his mother and father in law Dorothy and Jack Church as well as many friends and family that truly loved him. A viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel. A graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel. In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate money to the Tom Bracamonte memorial fund at Washington Mutual. All money will be donated to the MSTI center for cancer research on his behalf.

Moms here this weekend for Easter. It´s always nice when she comes out. She´s not as quick as she used to be. It´s hard sometimes trying to figure out life as an adult. I wish you were here to talk to. I need my Dad. I need to hear what you think or what you would do. I already know the answer. I just need to hear you say it. I miss your voice. I miss your laugh.
All the kids are grown now. LaDanian practically an adult now and little Aviyah. She´s such a sweet blessing to our family. I know you go visit her. She´s a card that girl. She makes Mom happy. The kids are finally figuring out life. It´s been a tough 15 years without you. I never wanted to be an adult without you. A daughter needs her Dad every day of her life. I miss you so much. I feel lost at times but push through and figure it out by myself. I hope I´ve made you proud. I try so hard to make sure our name is associated with kindness and love but sometimes this mouth..I miss you Dad. This is 15 Easter´s without you. It never gets easier. I just wish I could hug you and talk to you once more. You are and always will be the best man, the most important man, the most special man ever in my life. I love you
Your daughter Carrie

IT TOOK MY AWHILE TO WRITE THIS. MY DAD WAS THE MOST AMAZING PERSON. GROWING UP HE USED TO TAKE ME HUNTIN G AND I WOULD POP THE HEADS OFF THE DOVES. AS I GOT OLDER I GOT MORE HARD HEADED I TOOK ADVANTAGE AS TO WHAT I HAD AT HOME FOR A FAMILY. WHENEVER I NEEDED SOMEONE MY DAD WAS THERE HE AND MY MOM ALWAYS HAD MY BACK. HE WAS SO GREAT WITH ALL HIS GRANDKIDS. THEY WERE HIS LIFE. ANYTIME I NEEDED HELP HE WAS THERE. WHEN I WAS LEFT TO TAKE CARE OF TWO KIDS ALONE MY DAD MADE SURE THEY HAD A GOOD CHRISTMAS. WHEN I MARRIED MY AMAZING HUSBAND HE TOOK HIM IN LIKE A SON. HE HAS EMBRACED MY LIFESTYLE EVEN IF HE DIDNT AGREE. WHEN MY DAD FOUND OUT HE HAD CANCER ALL HE WANTED TO KNOW WAS HOW MUCH TIME HE HAD TO LIVE THEY GAVE HIM 6 MONTHS. WELL MY DAD SHOWED THEM AND MADE IT FOUR YEARS ALMOST TO HE DAY HE WAS DIAGNOSED. DURING THOSE FOUR YEARS HE WORRIED ABOUT ME AND MY SISTER AND OUR KIDS MORE THAN HIMSELF. THAT WAS MY DAD. WHEN HIS CANCER TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORST MY SISTER AND I GOT TO SHOW HIM WHAT GREAT GIRLS HE AND MY MOM RAISED BY TAKING CARE OF HIM UNTILL HIS LAST BREATH. I WAS SO MAD AT FIRST FOR HIM LEAVING ME. HE SAID HE NEVER WOULD. BUT THEN I REALIZED HE HAS NOT LEFT ME HE IS WITH ME ALWAYS NOW. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT GOT TO MEET MY DAD YOU KNOW HOW GREAT HE WAS. HE WOULD GIVE ANYONE THE SHIRT OFF HIS BACK IF THEY NEEDED IT AND NEVER ASKED WHY. I LOVE YOU DAD AND PROMISE TO MAKE YOU PROUD.

Dad, I think of you every day and not a second passes in my life that I don't miss you. I am so blessed to be a part of you and to have had you in my life to share everything with. I love you dearly and I am sad without you but happy you are no longer hurting and that you are spending your time with our Father and with Doug and Eddie. I know how much you missed those guys! Until I see you again dad, know I hold you closely in my heart and soul forever and each time I see the wind blow and feel the warm sun on my face, I know you are here with me. I love you Dad.
Love,
Carrie

Uncle Tommy - we will always remember your smile, laughter and most of all your positive outlook on life, always happy and never a bad word to say about anyone. We will think of you at hunting camp always, and know that you will always be fishing right beside me on the river. You are now at peace and for that we are grateful.

I feel fortunate to have known Tom. I worked with him for many years at Idaho Bearing & during that time we shared a lot of fun conversations, a lot of memories,& we also shared the same birthday! Even after he left the company and fell ill, he still came by a couple of times to visit. I will remember you Tom, & each birthday that goes by, I will be thinking of you.

Dad,
I know we lived miles apart but I do hope you truly know how much you meant to me. I am content knowing your with God in Heaven and Doug and Eddie will surely see you through. . May Eternal Peace be with you!!

Our fathers toil with hands and heart
To make our lives complete.
They quietly brave the winter cold,
Endure the summer heat.

Our fathers' lives are busy, but
There's always time for us.
They boldly face the ups and downs
And seldom ever fuss.

Our fathers are the greatest dads.
We know you know this, too.
But thank you for the chance to share
Our love for them with you.

I did not know Mr. Bracamonte but wanted his family to know that even in his death he touched people's lives. I read the obituary and was truly touched by his words as were my coworkers. May we all live like Thomas. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
