1931 - 2018
Velma Jean (Siebenberg) Nelson, 87, passed away at her home on Sept. 17, 2018 among family. Services will be held at Meridian First Baptist Church, 428 W Pine St, Meridian, Idaho 83642, on Sept 25th at 2pm, followed by a graveside service at Meridian Cemetery and officiated by Dr. Randy Cook of MFBC.
Velma was born to Harry E. and Jenny (Welch) Siebenberg on June 30, 1931 in Caldwell, Idaho. She grew up on a farm near Enrose with her brother, Wallace H. Siebenberg, and sister, Norine (Siebenberg) Phillips. While living there she attended Enrose Grade School and Caldwell High School. Growing up she worshipped at First Baptist Church Notus.
After she met and married Warren B. Nelson (March 23,1950 at First Baptist Church of Notus), they moved to Sand Hollow to ranch. Four sons (Thomas, Jay, Joseph and Jeffery) and one daughter (Kathleen) were born to them during this time. Later, they moved the family to Meridian. Warren and Velma went to Baptist Temple in Boise and, later, Meridian First Baptist Church. In Meridian, Velma raised her children, roses, gardens and enjoyed sewing. Eleven grandchildren were born to them and enjoyed life in their Meridian home. In 1996, they moved to her dream log cabin, built for her by Warren, in Star Ranch (Placerville), Idaho, surrounded by her flowers and rock garden.
Her parents, siblings and son, Jay W., have proceeded her in death. However, she leaves her sweet memory to Warren B. Nelson; Thomas A. and Rosalee Nelson, (Boise); Kathleen A. Nelson (Boise); Joseph B. and Nina Nelson (Meridian); Jeffery W. Nelson (Caldwell); 11 grandchildren and spouses; and 18 great-grandchildren (one more on the way). Her laughter, faith, enjoyment of the simple life and loyalty remains precious to those she loved.

I remember Velma, and her family. As a child we were good friends with them. My folks were Everett and Marge Sperry, spending quality time with Warren and Velma, and family. She was a wonderful mother and took such good care of Kathy. She was welcomed in Heaven, I'm sure. Gail Sperry Gumaer
