Warren Hostetler Obituary

Warren F. Hostetler
1949 ~ 2013
Warren Frank Hostetler was born on September 17, 1949 in Caldwell Idaho to Paul and Vivian Hostetler. He grew up in Mountain Home, graduating from MHHS in 1967.
He was a true Idahoan through and through. He loved to spend time in the hills hunting and fishing, camping or simply taking in the sights. It was nearly impossible to drive anywhere in this state where he didn't have a story to share about the history of the area or just some folklore he's heard somewhere.
A talented musician, Warren could pick up any instrument and make it come to life. He played and sang in several bands from his high school days into the 80's, and even did an encore performance of "Tulsa Time" in 2009. He took great pride in starting to teach his Grandson to play the guitar in recent years.
Warren worked for the Idaho Transportation Department for 35 years, retiring in 2005. He made many friendships over the years. Although he could be a man of few words at times, it was those few words you had to watch out for. The man would never lose in a battle of quick wits. He always had a comeback, even if it was one that you had to stop and think about.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gerry, daughter Brandi Hawkins and son-in-law Jeff, grandson Orrin, sister Paula Hostetler and numerous other dear family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and inlaws.
Services will be held Friday, January 3rd at 10:00 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home with a reception immediately following at the Maple Grove Grange.

My deepest sympathies to Warren's family and friends. Warren was a good man and a good friend to me. I knew Warren from ITD and I really admired him for his dedication to his work and his professionalism. He was very bright and very good at what he did. He adored his family and talked about them often. I really enjoyed being around Warren and I will always have fond memories of him.

Warren was one guy you just couldn't pass by without hugging, and you always felt better (and smarter) in his presence. Blessings to his family who he was so proud of. Catch some big ones with Ed now, buddy...you will be missed.
