William Strange Obituary

William G. Strange William G. "Bill" Strange passed away at his home on March 12, 2008, in Eagle, Idaho. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and most recently a grandfather. Bill was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on Sept. 21, 1954 to Owen and Elizabeth Strange. He married Catherine McDonald on Dec. 17, 1977. Bill graduated from Univ. of California at Davis where his studies in Plant Science and Chemistry led to a life long work in the agricultural industry. Throughout his career, he was admired for his integrity and work ethic as well as his wit and humor. During his career he strived to provide the world with an abundant and healthy food supply. As an activist for Idaho Agriculture he helped organize the Idaho Minor Crop Alliance and participated in Leadership Idaho Agriculture. Bill and Cathy spent early years enjoying boating along the southern California coast and many years backpacking among the lakes of the High Sierras and the Anza Borrego desert in California. They called Idaho home for the past 15 years. Bill loved the Idaho outdoors, enjoying horseback riding, fishing and hunting trips with his sons, (and daughter) and numerous friends. He was also an avid skier, having taught all his children to ski, they enjoyed the sport as a family. Bill also loved his family's ranch near Anza, Calif. where endless weekends and numerous vacations were spent working the land he loved so much. He instilled such a love of land and work ethic to his children. His strong faith in our loving LORD Jesus Christ helped give him courage and comfort during his long fight with cancer. He is survived by Cathy, his loving wife of 30 years, his sons William (wife Valerie and grand daughter Rose) and Gregory, his daughter Sarah, his father Owen, brother Brian, and sister Kathy Strange Culver. He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth and brother Owen. The family wishes to thank the amazing people at St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute for their kindness and dedication and St. Luke's Hospice for their compassion and respect in the end of life process. They also want to thank family and friends for their love and support. A memorial service will be held on March 29 at 1 p.m. at Eagle Christian Church, 100 Short Ln. Eagle, Idaho.

Cathy,
It was such a pleasure to meet you and Bill (though under less than desirable circumstances), and to be able to care for him at MSTI. It was difficult watching his human body waste away, but I have comfort in knowing that he is completely and eternally restored! I appreciated your love for one another and thank you for your impact in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you...
