Gaines J May

born Dec. 22, 1944 to the late Jasper May and Mrs. Agnes Cotton-May.

Gaines leaves behind his mother Mrs. Agnes May of Alliance, Ohio; one daughter Marshelle (Abe) Ball of Severn, Md.; sons Gaines ("J") May of Canton, and Marcus May of Albany, NY. Three grandsons, Tramair J May, of Tampa, Fla, Jerrin Ball of Severn, Md. and Jamie Taylor of Massillon, Ohio. A brother Augustine May (Betty) of Georgia, a sister-in-law, Deborah May of Canton, Ohio. A special friend Cyprienne Lemon, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Brenda May-Clayton, brother Ulysses May, sister Twligh Parker and beloved niece Tonika Clayton.

Gaines graduated in 1964 from Alliance High School,and was an Army veteran. At the time of his death he was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. In Canton. He retired from American Electric Power after 26 years.

Visitation will be held Friday (April 20, 2018) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul AME (1800 Tuscarawas St E., Canton) where services will be held at 12 p.m. with Pastor Barrett Spencer officiating. Interment will be held Monday (April 23, 2018) at 2 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
