Marie E. Bloom (nee:Harris) 1930-2016
86 years, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Kingston of Vermilion under Mercy Hospice Care following a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. She was born July 6, 1930 in Massillion, Ohio where she was raised. Marie lived in Cleveland for four years before moving to Amherst where she had made her home for the last fifty-two years. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Massillion. Marie also graduated from National Beauty College in Canton with her Ohio Cosmetology license. She was employed as a Beautician at Amherst Park Beauty Salon in Massillion. Marie was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst. She had a servants heart, always willing to help at church wherever needed. Marie was a member of the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School for over thirty years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Edward Bloom (Judy) of Amherst; her daughters, Beth McGinnis (Dan) of Lorain, Lori Kulp (Del) of Amherst; her grandchildren, Eric McGinnis (Amanda), DJ Kulp, John Bloom, Jeff Kulp, Tracy Bloom, and Sarah Bloom; and her great-grandson, Brantley McGinnis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, John Paul Bloom, Jr. on May 17, 1989; her sister, Dorothy Swartz; and her parents, Richard and Mary E. Harris (nee: Booth).
Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, from 2-5 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Drive, Amherst. The Rev.Von Eric Berlin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
