Nicholas Confalone Obituary

Nicholas Confalone
Nick passed away suddenly and peacefully in his home on July 1, 2011. Born in Morges, Ohio, in Aug., 1915, Nick was the son of Donato Confalone and Teodora (Capobianco) Confalone. He retired at the age of 70 from the Stark County Engineer's Office where he was a Supervisor of Maintenance Operations. He had also previously worked at NATCO Corp. and James Bros. Coal Co.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents and by his loving wife of 54 years, Helen (Bernabei) Confalone, who passed away on Jan. 20, 1996; and sisters Carmel Pisani, Mary Pisani, and Rosie DelGratta of Magnolia and Waynesburg. He is survived by a sister, Josephine (John) Yukich, a brother Lawrence Confalone; brother-in-law Herman Pisani, all of Magnolia; son Anthony (Rozanne) Confalone of Massillon; son Nick (Paula) Confalone of Lexington, Ohio; daughter Donna Misch of North Canton; daughter Christine Confalone (George Kutinsky) of Hartville; granddaughter Lauren Confalone of Lexington, Ohio; and friend Shirley Essig of Waynesburg. Nick also had seven grandchildren: Paul (Jacquelin) Misch and Craig Misch of Fenton, Mo.; Anthony (Heather) Confalone of Massillon; Renee (Steve) Schalmo of Massillon; Garry (Kathleen Hewitt) Grimwood of Canton; and Kimberly Grimwood of Middlebranch. Nick had nine great-grandchildren: Andrew Misch, Brooklyn Schalmo, Zachary Martin, Anthony Confalone, Dominic Confalone, Breanna Grimwood, Dane Grimwood, Xavier Grimwood, and Elena Grimwood, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In the mid-to late 50's, Nick could often be found in the pits at Canton Motor Speedway. His friends and family always said that there was nothing Nick couldn't fix. He was always helping someone with his deeds and kind words. He loved to cook (especially the pizzas he loved to bring to friends), and work in his tomato and green pepper garden. Nick will be missed by his many, many friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop celebrant. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.

I remember Nick always there to help work on cars or help with work on the house. He always had fun by telling me I would do better if I just got some rocks in my pocket. I have some great memories of Nick and know he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He helped me in so many ways be who I am today. Nick you will always be in my memories. Thanks for everything!!!

I remember your Dad bringing me pepperoni rolls and fresh Italian bread when he would come in to be treated. What fun he was to treat and talk with. Heaven welcomes a Great Man. My sympathies to you all.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Nick was my 'other grandpa', someone that always had a kind word, a big bear hug, and a great kiss on my cheek. My family always enjoyed his perfect pizzas. He will always have a special place in my heart. We will never forget the love that he carried with him at all times.

RIP Grandpa Nick! You will be sadly missed.

I always remember driving by Uncle Nickys house in the summer he was always outside working on a car. I would honk the horn and he would just stick his hand up and wave! then he would look up to see who he was waving to! If you ever stopped over during the summer you couldnt leave until he gave you enough vegtables out of the garden to last a few months! Requiescat in pace Uncle Nicky
