I am very proud to say that I served with Chaplain Essex for two years in the Navy. He was an outstanding example of honesty, humility, kindness and caring. I think about him often. He had a major, positive influence on me. I'm sorry that I never got to see him again. Condolences to his family.

Rev Essex was such a special person and pastor. We at Pigeon Run United Methodist Church (now Newcomer's Chapel) had the most respect for him as our Pastor and friend. Many wonderful memories of the Rev and his lovely wife, Dessie. He will be missed but never forgotten.
