Sue Morton Obituary
In her younger years, she loved to cook and host Sunday dinners. Her specialties were gravy and biscuits, yeast rolls, sausage stuffing, green beans, apple cake and all kinds of cobbler. She also enjoyed teaching the adult ladies Sunday school class and vacation Bible school at Independence First Baptist Church for many years, and she and her husband were lifelong members there.
She was an avid news fan and loved reading newspapers and watching the news on TV; she also never met a crossword puzzle she didn't like. She taught me to read at the age of 4 using newspapers, magazines and catalogs. She was very smart and independent lady and enjoyed spending time in her own home as long as she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Ellis Morton, her brother Hilary Reeves Jr., and her daughter, Evelyn Carol Morton. Her granddaughter, Elizabeth Sue Gray Paulson, survives her.
The family thanks the Independence Volunteer Rescue Squad for its kindness and service in the past and all the caregivers at Grayson Nursing and Rehab for taking such good care of her in the last few months.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel in Independence. The Rev. Mike Montgomery will officiate.
Afterwards, a private burial will take place in the Boyer Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Independence Volunteer Rescue Squad or Independence First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Morton was such a dear lady. When she was still living at home, Independence First United Methodist Church's Lamb's Table delivered meals to her every Tuesday night. She was so kind and loving. She will be missed.
