2 the Metcalfe family:
I just heard about Chad's passing and I am floored. I cant express enough how much I hurt right now. As the tears fall from my eyes I find in more and more difficult to type. Chad and I grew up in the YMCA sports program and over the years became competitive friends. Then as time went on we were blessed to be on the same team a number of times. Jr Varsity & Varsity football sticks out in my head the most because he was one of those "tough guys" on defense that made the T.L.Hanna Football Team the "Swarming Yellow Jackets" that we became known for. When I got 2 college and was moved to the corner-back position, he was one of the guys that I tried to emulate because he was one of the best defensive backs and I had the pleasure of playing with and getting to know. He will be missed and his memory will live on in me. I thank God for the chance to have met him, to have become friends and share in some awesome memories as groomed athletes. I wish I had known sooner about his passing so I could have been there to say good-bye...... to a fellow warrior. My deepest sympathies.

Mr, Metcalfe.
Altough I have not spoken with Chad for many years, when I heard about his death just Saturday night almost a week after it happened I have been truly heart broken. I will always remember growing up playing little league soccer and baseball with Chad. Of course I could never forget 12 and under baseball allstars when you were our coach. More importantly, I want to say that I am sorry that I did not take the oppurtunity to speak with Chad when I did see him over the last couple of years. As a adults, we often get to busy to appreciate the small things and I want you to know that your family has made a lasting impression on my life.

Chester, Sandra, Greg and the entire Metcalfe family,
I am so very sorry and saddened by the passing of your beautiful son, and our friend, Chad. Not only do I remember graduating from high school in 91 with him, but I have the best memories of us growing up right across the street from each other. I still think about all of the times he raced me to the bus stop in the early morning or laughed hysterically at me when his dog, Bandit, would chase me around the yard. He was a beautiful, vibrant young man and we will all miss him very much. Our family will continue to pray for all of you each and every day. We love you all.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. So sorry about Chad we all loved him and will miss him dearly.

Mr. Metcalfe, you probably don't remember me, but you coached Chad and I in Little League and he and I went to school together (middle school through Hanna). My father sent me Chad's obituary, and it is always tough to see someone you grew up with pass away, and especially a father who was so young. My sympathies and prayers are with you and your family.
