Doris Spires Obituary
ABBEVILLE, SC - Doris Crittendon Spires, 78, of Abbeville, wife of Ray Spires, died peacefully, Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was born in Anderson County to the late James M. and Rebe Waters Crittendon. Mrs. Spires was a graduate of Lowndesville High School and was a member of Lowndesville Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated a chicken farm. Mrs. Spires was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Dewey Crittendon, Robert Keith Crittendon and Billy Ray Crittendon.
Mrs. Spires is survived by her husband of 62 years of the home; two sons, Robert Spires and Danny Ray Spires and his wife Vicki all of Abbeville; a sister, Sara "Issie" Crittendon of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Shane Spires and his wife Amy and Crystal Spires Wiley and her husband Darris all of Abbeville; four great-grandchildren, Shaney Spires, Clary Spires, Danni Spires and Mallory Wiley.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Spires Family Cemetery on Hwy. 71 following the service.
The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Shane Spires on Hwy. 71.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Spires, may be sent to the Hospice Care of South Carolina, 103 W. Pickens Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.

Ray,Issie,and family,
I was sorry to hear about Doris passing.I am glad I was blessed to have sit and help take of her for a while.During that time i got to know her as the Loving and caring person that she was.
