Gerald McAlister Obituary

GERALD McALISTER IVA, SC - Gerald McAlister, 68, of 401 Washington St, Iva SC, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC on February 8, 1940; he was the son of late Clarance McAlister and Marie Pelfrey McAlister. He was the spouse to Velma Jean McAlister. Mr. McAlister was a veteran of the US Air Force and a former member of the Dixie Melody and Florida Boys Quartet. In addition to his wife, Velma, of the home and mother, Marie, of Anderson SC; he is also survived by sons: Jimmy, Billy, and Lucky Madden of Iva, SC; daughter Sandra Arflin of Anderson; brothers: his twin Jerry along with Larry, Melvin and David McAlister all of Anderson, SC and Jack McAlister of Georgia; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place 2:00 pm Friday, July 11, 2008 at Fellowship Wesleyan Church, Iva, SC officiated by Rev. George Brassard. Mr. McAlister will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in church cemetery with military rites. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. The grandchildren will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. Woodlawn – Sosebee Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
