BREVARD - Annie Mae Fisher Jamerson, 76, of Brevard, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville.
She was a native of Concord, and had lived in the Brevard area since 1947. Ann was the second of seven children born to the late Clarence and Dora Barbee Fisher. She was the wife of the late William S. "Bill" Jamerson, whom she married in Clayton, Ga., in Oct. 1947. He passed away in Feb. 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Morgan and Sue Davis, and one brother, Lee Fisher.
Ann was probably best known as the "tinsmith" lady. She could be found most days working along side Bill and later, their sons, at the metal shop. She and her late husband were the owners of Brevard Sheet Metal, which was started on the lower level of the old Clayton Hotel that was located on Main Street and later moved to the old Stroller's Inn on the corner of Caldwell and Jordan streets. At the death of Bill's father, Floyd, in 1968, they took over ownership. She continued to operate the business (presently located on the Rosman Hwy.) until the time of her death. Ann was an avid softball player for many years, playing pitcher. She also loved to trout fish, and had an interest in the history of the land, where you would find her searching for arrowheads to add to her vast collection. She loved to mine for gems, which were worked into beautiful jewelry. She was a wonderful cook and always had plenty of food for her family and anyone who may drop by. She loved to work in her garden of vegetables and flowers. She was also a charter and faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church in Brevard, where she formerly taught Sunday school and Bible school.
She is survived by four sons, Steve and wife, Michalea, Wayne "BlackJack" and wife, Patsy, Robert and wife, Deborah, and Johnny, all of Brevard; and four daughters, Linda Jennings and husband, Bill, Billie Nicholson and husband, Doug, Rita Long and husband, Dewey, all of Brevard, and Ella Jacobs and husband, Paul, of Indianola, Wash.; one sister, Evelyn Hargett of Harrisburg; and two brothers, C.H. and Bill Fisher of Concord. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Betty Reid and husband, Bill, of Balsam Grove, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home in Brevard.
