April Zsambeky Obituary

April Ann Turner Zsambeky

August 25, 1933 - September 8, 2023

Mrs. April Ann Turner Zsambeky, aged 90, of Concord, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Gardens of Taylor Glen Healthcare. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private graveside service, held to honor April's life, will take place at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Friday, October 13th at 2 p.m.

April was born on August 25, 1933 in Lithia Springs, GA, to loving parents Willie Boggus Turner and Mark Turner. She was also preceded in death by her sister, June Anderson, and brothers, Howard Ellison and George Ellison. She was the wife of the late John Sebastian Zsambeky.

Throughout her life, April enjoyed a variety of pastimes. In her youth, she found pleasure in playing golf with friends, showcasing her competitive spirit, and even got a hole-in one! She was a successful salesperson and real estate agent and was a small business owner. As she grew older, she cherished the moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. April was very social, loved painting, and had a keen interest in playing mahjong and bridge with her friends. Later in life she discovered computer games and loved Candy Crush!

April is survived by her best friend Mary Ruth Hooper of King, NC, daughters, April Di Anne Richee and her husband, Bill, of Winston Salem; Jennifer Yelverton and her husband, Jason, of Maple Valley, Washington; Debbie McKewen and her husband, Lee, of Carrollton, GA, and her son, Dr. Jonathan Turner Zsambeky and his wife, Ginger, of Concord. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren; Tracie Beal, Jaclyn Honaker, Amber Meraz, Turner Zsambeky and Leah Catherine Zsambeky. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren; Logan Williams, Ciera Williams, Lena Grace Honaker, Zoey Meraz and great-great-grandchildren; Lilly Williams and Eden Williams, as well as nieces Carol Hart and Annette Lashley.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to McGill Baptist Church, 5300 Poplar Tent Rd, Concord, NC 28027 and/or Via Health Partners, (formerly known as Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region), 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226. These contributions will honor April's memory and support causes dear to her heart.

As we remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. April Ann Turner Zsambeky, we are reminded of her love for family and friends, her competitive spirit, and her joy in playing games. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
