Barbara A. Ford, 72, of Concord, passed Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022.
She was born April 29, 1950, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She is survived by her father, Luther; husband, Robert; daughter, Yolanda; and granddaughter, Shaolyn.
Barbara was loved by all who had the privilege to meet her, from being part of Toastmasters and TIAA, to walking through the neighborhood smiling and waving at neighbors. She made everyone's day brighter with her infectious smile. Barbara enjoyed going home more than she enjoyed traveling.
Barbara had a love for music, playing the keyboard, dancing the electric slide and singing Sweet Home Alabama, and of course we cannot forget her love of West Side Story and its musical theatrics. I'm sure that the staff at St. Andrews Assisted Living will miss Barbara as well as the daily musical rendition of Maria.
Barbara was an SGI Buddhist. Her scroll will be open on the right side of the room for anyone who wishes to chant and respect her practice at her funeral service, which will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at Cabarrus Funeral Cremation and Cemetery, 3892 NC Hwy. 73 E in Concod. Open viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m., followed by a Christian service at 5 p.m., lead by Pastor Frederick Bowman. Light refreshments will be on hand throughout the day.
Barbara lived with and died from Symantec Dementia. In lieu of flowers or plants please make a donation in Barbara's name to theaftd.org. Or you can make a donation to your local food pantry, or send snacks and goodies to assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
