Harold VonCannon

March 24, 1947 - September 29, 2022

Harold Wayne VonCannon, 75, of Concord, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born March 24, 1947, in Cabarrus County, to the late Roy and Ann Mauney VonCannon.

Harold was an avid fan of Duke Basketball and the Carolina Panthers. He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, especially bowling, and was employed in the kitchen at K&W Cafeteria.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Lynn VonCannon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his cousins and guardians, Robin Smith and Sonya Davenport; the administrator of Cabarrus County Group Homes, Ginger Pope; his house mothers who loved and took care of him for years, Dee Crouch and Jennifer Melton; the residents of his group home, who were like his family; and a host of other caring cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Harold's life will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. at Multiply Church (formerly First Assembly) in Concord. The Rev. Steve Hargett will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to Cabarrus County Group Homes, P.O. Box 1197, Concord, NC 28026 or to Special Olympics of Cabarrus County, Hickory Ridge High School, 7321 Raging Ridge Rd., Harrisburg, NC 28075.
