Judy Hess Carden
February 27, 1944 - October 20, 2021
Judy Hess Carden, 77, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at Monroe Rehabilitation in Monroe.
Born Feb. 27, 1944, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Annie Lee Martin Hess and Franklin Lewis Hess Sr.
She was educated in the Salisbury schools and graduated from Boyden High School and Appalachian State Teachers College. Mrs. Carden taught in the Salisbury/Rowan School system and taught Home Economics at East Rowan High School before retiring. She was a lifelong member of North Main Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school and the adult ladies. Mrs. Carden served as president of the Women's Missionary Union.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Norton Carden Aug. 31, 2013; and brother, Franklin Lewis Hess Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Christopher Larry Carden (Kathy) of Nags Head, Matthew Brian Carden (Emily) of Landis and Laura Carden Smith (Thomas) of Concord; and grandchildren, Ella Carden, Miles Carden, Connor Winstead, John Winstead, Jace Smith and Braxton Abel Smith.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24, at North Main Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Dale Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.
