Leonard Adkins Obituary

Rev. Leonard Joe Adkins, 83, entered his heavenly home on November 21, 2025, at Atrium Health Hospital in Concord, North Carolina. He was the beloved husband of Jessie Leadingham Adkins, who faithfully stood by his side throughout their life and ministry together.

Born on March 17, 1942, in New, West Virginia (Raleigh County), he was the son of Lee Burman Adkins and Velmar Bragg Adkins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Preston Adkins.

Rev. Adkins is survived by his children: Rita Rene and Gary Scott of Leesburg, FL; Jeffery Leonard Adkins of Concord, NC; and Brian Phillip Adkins of Concord, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Jeffery Lee Adkins of Concord, NC and a cherished great-grandfather to Akira Reign Adkins of Concord, NC. He is also survived by his brothers: Lude and Ruth Adkins of Gastonia, NC; Coey Adkins of Florida; and Franklin and Linda Adkins of Princeton, WV; along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

A man marked by a lifelong calling, Rev. Adkins began preaching at just twelve years old. His ministry spanned decades, taking him to churches, tent revivals, and crusades throughout the United States and abroad. His passion for sharing the Gospel shaped countless lives and left an enduring spiritual legacy.

After retiring from full-time ministry, he continued serving his community by building a successful tent rental business in Concord, NC, which he operated for twenty-five years.

Rev. Leonard Joe Adkins will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Jessie, his family, and all who were blessed to know him.
