January 3, 1937 - February 12, 2022
Patricia "Pat" Ann Schaeffer, of Concord, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was reunited with her late husband, Howard Schaeffer, who was the love of her life for more than 63 years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Louise and Ralph Lee Musser.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Brad) Willert of Sturgis, S.D.; Judy (Carl) Aragon of Boulder, Colo.; Linda (Lannie) Cruse of Concord; Betsy (Rocky) Kupfner of Superior, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; Buddy and Rugby, her beloved fur babies; and a host of extended family and friends.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Jan. 3, 1937, she spent her early years in Putnam and Brooklyn, N.Y. She was raised in Steubenville, Ohio, and graduated from Steubenville High School in 1954. She married Dec. 25, 1956, and began her journey in Germany as the wife of an Airman. She wore many hats (many of them red). She was Mrs. Claus, Domestic Violence Counselor, floral designer, Singing Saint, TOPS member, Red Hatter, and animal lover. She spent countless hours volunteering for organizations close to her heart and was actively involved in her church. She had a beautiful voice and loved to share her passion for music by singing in various choirs. Though she had many wonderful achievements, she was most fulfilled by raising and nurturing her family. She instilled many morals and values including unconditional love, family, and sense of service. She was a true Matriarch and will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at Center United Methodist Church, 1119 Union St., South, in Concord, Saturday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. The family will receive guests at 10 a.m., prior to the service.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful and loving care provided by Hospice and Palliative Care of Concord.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Concord; or the Humane Society of Greater Cabarrus County.

I felt so blessed to know Pat. She was such a fun and wonderful lady. We went to several TOPS events together and she made the trip fun with her wit and stories. She loved her family and I was privileged to sit with her some in her later months. She loved her life, and I know she is rejoicing with Howard. She is truly missed by many. May God comfort and give peace to her wonderful daughters and their families. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren -- "because two people loved."
