Dr. Patsy Louise Clowney Cruse Bloom, 77, of Conyers, Ga., formerly of Kannapolis, N.C., passed away peacefully on her birthday, Thursday, December 25, 2025, following a courageous battle with bladder cancer. Born December 25, 1948, to the late Leroy and Johnnie Mae Clowney, she was a 1967 graduate of George Washington Carver High School and was recently awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from B-On-U Theological Institute in recognition of her lifelong service to family and community.

Patsy was the devoted mother of Everett "Donnie" Cruse, the late Emma Lavon Cruse, Cory Cruse (Melinda), Dr. Johni "Le'Ray" Cruse Craig, and Crystal Cruse; grandmother of ten; great-grandmother of thirteen; and a beloved sister, aunt, and "bonus mother" to many nieces, nephews, and spiritual children. She retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, served faithfully in multiple churches, and was active with S.O.J.E.R. Global Outreach and the Black Greek Letter Consortium's community outreach efforts for the All of Us Research Program.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Lee Cruse, and her second husband, Michael E. Bloom, her sisters, Susie Mae Clowney Torrence & Janie "Faye" Clowney Collins, son-in-loves, James P. Bell & Marvin Craig. Her joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and "Legacy of Love" will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Living Water Community Church, 162 N. Little Texas Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28083. Visitation will be 12 to 1 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
