Richard Wayne Shoemaker, 75, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at Regional Hospice Home.

He was born March 5, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, N.C., to the late Walter Lee and Daisey Creed Shoemaker. He attended Brown's Chapel Baptist Church and was a contractor and retired from R.L. Jordan Oil Co.

Mr. Shoemaker served in the U.S. Navy, and was a substitute teacher with Spartanburg County School District 3. Richard was also a long-time Bluegrass musician.

Surviving are his wife, Shawn Lee Shoemaker of the home; son, Brandon Shoemaker of Charlotte; stepson, Christopher Webb of Greenville; four sisters, Reba Shoe of Gold Hill, Annie Barrier of Mt. Pleasant, Judy Furr of Norwood, and Mary Smetzer of Mt. Pleasant; three brothers, Jake Shoemaker of Concord, Grady Shoemaker of Kannapolis, and Dennis Shoemaker of Concord.

Richard was first married to the late Shirley Johnson Shoemaker and was preceded by sister, Agnes Henson; and brother, Charlie Shoemaker.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m., at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 13683 Hwy. 221, in Enoree, officiated by the Rev. John Cox.

Visitation will immediately follow the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, N.Y. 10016.

The family is at their respective homes.
