Ruby Giles Obituary

CONCORD - Ruby M. Giles, 79, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Transitional Healthcare Services. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at New Birth Christian Center, 47 Gold St., Concord. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Ella Cunningham officiating and the Rev. Berthenia Ford, eulogist. Burial will be at Rutherford Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Giles was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Union County, S.C., the daughter of the late Rufus Geter and the late Janie Means. She graduated from Sims High School in Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Giles; son, Allen Giles; and all of her sisters and brothers. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Tammy Giles; grandson, Robert Matthew Giles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lamb Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Miss Ruby was such an encouragement to me. Here is a lady that knew her bible. She was modest, humble a true believer that lived her life being obedient to the Lord God. I’ve know Miss Ruby since mid 1990. I would visit and take her shopping before she was placed in a nursing home. I would continue to visit her through the years and I always enjoyed the visits. She always had a wonderful attitude, took time to enjoy the court yard and birds that she could see from her windows and just generally enjoyed life. She always made me feel special, always having a compliment on her lips and never saying anything bad about anyone. She loved the Lord and she loved her Bible. I’ll miss my visits with Miss Ruby, she just let me talk and talk and talk and I loved to make her laugh. One of my most fondest memories of her Miss Ruby is when I read her some verses from the Bible recently. It brought her such peace during a time when I knew she was not feeling well and was hoping the Lord would soon take her. I will also remember how she loved to read the Bible to others and how can I forget her laugh. It was such a cute, shy, little giggle – I will certainly miss her.
