Edward Nowik Obituary

Edward L. Nowik Jr., 75, of Montrose, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Endless Mountains Health Systems, after an extended illness.
He was born on November 4, 1946, in Montrose, to the late Edward A. and Stella T. (Kowalczyk) Nowik. His wife of 56 years, Diane (Tator) Nowik, survives.
Also surviving are his four sons: Edward Nowik III, Benjamin Nowik, Matthew Nowik, Andrew Nowik; two brothers, Michael and James Nowik; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by his grandmother, Karolina Kowalczyk.
Ed graduated from Montrose Senior High School in 1964 and remained in the Montrose area all his life. Following his graduation, he was employed as a machinist by IBM for 30 years.
An active member of the Holy Name of Mary Catholic church, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, taking the Holy Eucharist to those who were unable to attend Holy Mass in person. When Ed wasn't working at IBM, he could be found tending to his farm in the Forest Lake area.
Ed possessed an outgoing personality and would rarely pass an opportunity to stop and chat with those he met. He had many close friends in the Montrose, Silver Lake and Forest Lake communities.
In his spare time, Ed was an avid collector of old (junk) farm machinery and enjoyed nothing more than restoring them to use.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Holy Name of Mary Church, with Rev. Philip Rayappan officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery. Visitations were held Monday, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home.

We will always remember Ed as a kind, "old soul" helping others as needed. May all of you have peace in your hearts and share wonderful memories as you celebrate his life on earth.

Dear Diane and family,

I was so sad to hear of Ed's passing. He was such a sweet and generous man. He brought communion to my mother every week for years. My mother truly enjoyed his visits talking about old times and farm life. She looked forward to his visits every week. His compassion and kindness toward others was an inspiration to us all.

Ed used to come to our house and lead Bible study. He had such a pure and gentle heart for God. I’m quite sure that he now walks on streets of gold in the presence of his savior. We were so blessed to have Ed in our lives, and although we haven’t seen him for quite some time, his impact will never be forgotten. Our deepest sympathies to his family, as we are sure he will be missed on this earth.
