John Stopka Obituary
Born December 26, 1919 in Kovarce, Slovakia, he was the son of the late Jan and Julia (Krall) Stopka.
He was employed Nationwide Insurance Company.
He was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and the Stamp Club of Scranton. He also enjoyed camping, coin collecting and piloting his plane with his wife. Previously he was a part of Knights of Columbus, the Civil Conservation Corps, and served as an Altar Boy in his local church,
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Stopka of Montrose; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and John G. Nuzzo of Brick, N.J.
A son, Joseph M Stopka, predeceased him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Montrose. Visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m., on Friday at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose.

I only met John once when he taught an Adult Night School class in Montrose about stamp collecting. I found John to be a very interesting man with great stories and I was always hoping to meet up with him again, being a philatelist myself. May he rest in peace. May the Good Lord keep his family in His loving care.
