Josephine Dean Obituary

Josephine H. Dean 95, of Montrose, passed away on May 10, 2023, at Meadow View RHC after a brief illness.
She was born in Taylor, PA to the late Joseph and Tekla (Burza) Hallick on December 6, 1927. Jo was a lifelong resident of Montrose. After graduating from Montrose High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert B. Dean. They were married for 39 years and had four children.
She was a buyer for the Montrose Department Store for 34 years and after a brief retirement worked for Craigs for the next 18 years, finally retiring at age 84. Jo loved working with the public.
Cooking for family and friends was her second love. You would never go hungry at Jo Dean's house. She was also well known for the beautifully decorated cakes she made for all occasions.
Josephine was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Guild. She was also a Charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US, Ayers-Stone Post 5642, Montrose.
She is survived by her children: Donna Dean Passmore, Wilmington NC, Robert Calvin (Nannette) Dean, Montrose, Roxane Dean, Weaverville NC, and son-in-law Richard Egan, Syracuse, NY.
Grandchildren: Dawn Griffiths (Randy Shanafelt) Clearwater FL, Lisa Coyne (Chris Boulter), Vestal, NY, Elizabeth Sutcliffe, Wilmington, NC, Robert "Corey" (Deborah) Cox, Honey Brook, PA, Suzanne (Walter) Short, Los Almos NM, John (Heather) Cox, Wilmington, NC, Christopher (Kara) Passmore, Rochester, MN, Laura (Sean) Fitzgerald Chatham, NJ, Samuel (Tracy) Dean, Perkasie PA, Sarah (Manoj) Rana, Nashua, NH, Robert (Brittney) Dean, Harmony, PA, James Dean, Seattle, WA.
Great grandchildren: Bria Losurdo, Kyle, Caleb and Anna Zeyak, Whitney (Joshua) Freeman, Taylor (Jodie) McLean, Jacob (Katie) Hoffsher, Tammy and Megan Allen, Jamison and Logan Dean, Lily and Abby Fitzgerald, Ajay and Bela Rana, Olivia Grace Cox, Atreyu Dean, and Lyla Rose Dean; and great-great grandchildren: Riley, Kaden, Brielle, and Connor.
In addition to her parents, in-laws, and siblings she was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Dean, daughter Margaret Egan, sons-in-law Michael Griggs and David Passmore, great-grandsons Paul Allen and Corey Cox.
Services were held at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home on May 13, 2023, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Elizabeth Grohowski officiating. The visitation was held one hour before the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to see the passing of Josephine. I met her through my aunt Bev and uncle Jack and my parents. She was a wonderful lady. I will always have great memories of her and the time my and my family spent with her though the years.
