Walter L. Sears

Walter L. Sears, 75, of Kingsley, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife Linda J. (Willard) Sears predeceased him on October 15, 2010.

Born May 20, 1939 in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late George F. and Rita (Hutchins) Sears.

Walter served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1957 to 1963.

He was the Pastor of the "little flock" at Calvary Baptist Church, Alford, for the past 36 years and also the Supervisor for the Goat Department of the Harford Fair for many years. Walter enjoyed sports, both watching and playing them. He was a Lion-hearted Evangelist. His passion was to see people come to know the Lord as their personal Savior.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Timothy Thomas of Kingsley; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Annette Sears of Kingsley; grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew (Lacey), Benjamin (Emily), Heather, Daniel Thomas, Analyn, Lauralee, Philip Sears; great grandchildren, Lacey Mae, Hayley Claire, Bentley, Wesley Thomas, Ayden Francis Sidorek; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Janet Sears of Kingston, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, a sister, Martha Chamberlin predeceased him.

Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the South New Milford Baptist Church, 2967 Harford Road, New Milford, PA 18834. A gathering will be held after the services at the church on Saturday.
