Charlotte Barmore Obituary
Born in Easley, December 31, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Ola Frances Satterfield Irby. Charlotte graduated from Lander University with a degree in Education. She taught for many years and later retired from the Greenwood School District 50 and Piedmont Technical College.
A member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood, she was also a member of the Carpenter Sunday School Class.
In addition to her long career in Education, she was very active in the community and served in various roles as a member of the Holly Garden Club, the Greenwood Council of Garden Clubs, the Herb Club, and the Greenwood Women's Club.
Surviving are her son, Robert E. Barmore, III and wife Karen of Greenwood; a granddaughter, Amanda Gadd, a grandson, Scott Gadd and wife Ashleigh, all of Charlotte, NC; a son-in-law, William "Bill" Laucis of Greenwood; and her dear sister, Emily Goldsmith and husband George of Columbia, SC.
Charlotte was predeceased in 2016, by her daughter, Gwen Barmore Laucis.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, July 6th, at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tony Hopkins and Dr. J. William Harris officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 Saturday afternoon.
The family would like to thank the gracious and loving staffs of Self Regional Medical Center and Hospice House, and the many loving friends for the comfort and love given to Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either, The First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649, or to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
