Jasper Hill Obituary

Mr. Jasper Hill, 71, husband of Lillie Ruth Williams Hill, passed away Jan. 5, 2015 at the Medical University of Charleston. He was born in McCormick County December 19, 1943, a son of the late Bobby T. Hill and Julia A. Quarles Hill. He was retired from Greenwood Mills after 38 years of service and was also employed with Louis Rich Mill in Newberry, SC. He was a very devoted and faithful member of Second Damascus Baptist Church, where he served in several ministries to include the Sr. Ushers, Chairman of The Trustee Board, and Church Custodian. He was a volunteer for the Promised Land Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Lillie, of 50 years; two sons, Gregory Hill of the home and Stanley Hill of Hodges, SC; one adopted son, Donnie Hurley of Greenwood; one daughter, Janice Hill of the home; one adopted daughter, Aljeania Warren; three brothers, Clifford Hill (Mary) of Greenwood, David Hill (Gerri) of Rocky Mountain, NC, and Thomas Hill (Linda) of Promised Land; five sisters, Louise H. Tolbert of Greenwood, Mamie Gilchrist (Frank) of Edgefield, SC, Julia Holiday (Howard) of Manning, SC, Bertha Culver and Betty Hill, both of Philadelphia, PA; three grandchildren; and a host of God grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, SC, with Rev. Arthur Kemp officiating and Rev. Herry Mansel presiding. Burial will be in Second Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hill will be placed in the church at Noon. Pallbearers and flower bearers will be friends of the family. Honorary escorts will be Promised Land Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be left on our website: www.percivaltompkinsfh.com. The family is at the home.
