L. Rice Obituary

Mr. L. C. Rice, 80 years old, of 610 Crestfield Road, Greenville, SC, husband of Johnnie Ruth Rice, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Born June 20, 1945, in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late Ethel Mae Rice McGrier and Christopher C. Williams.

Mr. Rice was a U.S. Army Veteran, an auto mechanic, and retired from the Durst plant

Mr. Rice is survived by his wife Johnnie Ruth Freely Rice, of the home; five children, Lloyd Calvin Rice, Allen Jerome Rice and Melissa Ann (Robert Suber) Price all of Greenville, SC; Sam (Letha) Arnold, Greenwood, SC and Belinda Cheryl Moton, Hodges, SC; sisters, Christine W. Cann, Elyria OH; Mary (George) Amonitti, Hilton Head Island, SC; Lillian Lee, Greenwood SC; Ophelia McGrier and Lorene (James) McKee, Hodges SC; Margie W. (Michael) Parkman, Columbus OH, Katie Horn, Washington DC and Juanita Rice, Hodges SC; brothers, Eddie Williams, Elyria OH; Robert Williams, Columbus OH; Billy (Georgia) McGrier, Atlanta GA; Bobby McGrier, Ware Shoals SC and Leroy (Josephine) McGrier, Phoenix AZ; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rice was predeceased by sisters, Mary Williams King, Daisy Irby, June Hall, Ellen Spearman, Ernestine Smith and Wadiyah Shahid; brothers, George Williams, Capers McGrier, Jr., Odell McGrier and Charles McGrier.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Dunn Creek Baptist with burial in the church cemetery. The body is at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service and will be on public view, Friday from 3 – 7 pm and placed in the church Saturday at 12 noon.

The family is at home.
