Margie Watson Obituary

Margie Watson, of Moberly, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Aspire Senior Living. 

Margie Frances Self was born June 17,1936, in Randolph County, MO, to her parents, Marion Self and Elsie (Haak) Self. She lived her entire life in Randolph County, attending school at Cottage Grove School and Moberly public schools. Margie graduated from Moberly Jr. College as well as taking classes at Central Christian College of the Bible (CCCB). It was during her time at CCCB that she met her husband-to-be, Frank Watson, of McAllister, OK. They were married June 4, 1960, in the home of her parents. 

Margie worked several places, including JC Penney, Madison Faesller Tool Company, and Budget Investment Corp. as a bookkeeper. She took a break from working full time to spend with her family. As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce doing substitute teaching and finally at the Sears Catalog Store, where she worked until her retirement. She loved to garden, travel, play the piano, knit and crochet. Margie was a member of the Timber Lake Christian Church, formerly Union Avenue Christian Church, of which she was a Charter Member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Elsie Self; a sister, Shirley Marie Self; and her husband, Frank. 

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Todd) Beaverson and Andy (Kristie) Watson; brother, Ron (Phyllis) Self; grandchildren, Katie Beaverson, Amber O’Donnell, Taylor Hinton, Elsie Watson, Chelsey Huddleston and Janell Foster; great grandchildren Katon, Jackson, Scottie, Charlie, Brent and Willow.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with service following at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly. Interment will be private at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
