Spencer Franks

William Spencer Franks, Jr., 31, a resident of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born December 31, 1993, in Greenwood, he was the son of William Spencer Franks, Sr. and Debra Joe Sims Franks. Spencer was a 2012 graduate of Greenwood High School, where he was Valedictorian and played baseball throughout middle and high school. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2018 from the USC College of Pharmacy. He was employed with Self Regional Healthcare as a pharmacist.

Spencer was a dedicated student and professional, having been a member of Kappa Psi, awarded the Scholastic Achievement Award, and named to the Dean's List every semester.

He was an avid sports fan who loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He had a deep love for animals and was known for his kind, gentle, and compassionate spirit. Spencer was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church in Honea Path.

Surviving, in addition to his parents of Greenwood, are his brother, Brent Driggers (Amy) of Lyman; his sister, Kelly Smith (Joe) of Honea Path; his maternal grandmother, Nellie Sowell; and his niece and nephew, Graham and Beckett Driggers.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfathers, Billy Joe Tankersley and Nolan Sowell, and by his paternal grandparents, John and Carol White Franks.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Blyth Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
