Alfred (Al) Marino

The Villages, FL - 76, passed away October 23, 2018. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Josephine (Sturiale) Marino.

He is survived by his loving wife of more than 53 years, Nancy; beloved sons, Andy (Kristi), and Jeff (Kim); and five amazing grandchildren, Nicky, Sophia, Emma, Tony and Max. He was a beloved brother to Barbara (Marino) Chimiak, Ed Marino and brother-in-law to Carole Friswold, Paul and Bea Friswold and Walter Chimiak.

He will be remembered fondly by his many co-workers at Indiana Blue Cross (now Anthem) and myriad friends in Indiana and Florida where he greatly enjoyed his retirement years. He was an avid sailor even in landlocked Indiana, and an enthusiastic golfer for many of those years. He was a kind, compassionate, loving person. His mind and spirit were ravaged by dementia in his later years, but he is now finally resting in peace.

A celebration of his life will be held at GH Herrmann Funeral Home, 1605 South SR 135, Greenwood, on November 11 from 1-4 PM. The family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, a hospice, or charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. He left a lasting legacy at Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He had a beautiful smile for everyone, regardless of who you were. I had a crush on him, as did everyone in my unit, it was impossible not to. I started at BCBS in 1981 working part-time in the evening. He would come down & talk with our little unit of processors, just to hang out a minute. He had such a great sense of humor. I am still at Anthem BCBS and as I have risen through the ranks, I have never known a more down to earth executive before or since. Keeping all of you in my prayers every night.
