Anita L. Diggle
84, of New York City, passed away Jan. 5, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born July 29, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Shortridge High School there in 1947. Although she had been admitted to the University of Chicago, Anita stayed in Indianapolis to help support her family, going to work for Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Company, and attended Indiana University Extension at night to study business. From there she went to the Shaw Walker Company, and then to Remington Rand, where she forged a career as a self-taught systems analyst. At Remington, Anita learned something of the new field of computers, well before they were a standard business commodity. In 1960 she moved to New York City, where she became manager of the first office of the Wheeldex Simpla Company. In 1967 she began working as a systems analyst for New York University; in that position she spent several years at Bellevue Hospital, where she developed procedures for reducing emergency room wait times and streamlining admission and medical records procedures. In the early 1970s Anita became an independent management consultant and included Harvard Medical School and the (then) Department of Health, Education, and Welfare as her clients. After a period of retirement in the 1990s she re-invented herself as a real estate broker from 2006 until present, most recently with Charles Rutenberg Realty.
She is survived by two brothers James A. (Sherri) Diggle and George R. (Judith Reiberg) Diggle; a niece, Julia Anita (Mel) Miller; a nephew, James A. Diggle III; two great nieces Amber Ugalde and Georgia Diggle; two great nephews Shane Riddle and Andrew Miller, and many great, great nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Rutherford G. and Georgia Hatfield Diggle, and a niece, Joy Mae Diggle.
Anita loved and was dedicated to her family and friends. She loved nothing more than bringing them altogether for her fabulous dinner parties and celebrations. No one could surpass her in her love for New York City, and she cherished every moment she was able to live and work there. She was a woman of significant intelligence and great compassion for others, and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12 at 1pm at the Rogers - Oller Funeral Home , 115 West Main Street, Clarkson, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the Clarkson Cemetery. Anita's kindness was what made her Anita. Her alert mind, thoroughness and attention to the detail of things she was involved in were also apparent to all ... not the least of which endeavors were her holiday feasts for family and friends in NYC!

In memory of a woman so kind and loving, that she could, in speaking of the most deary and unfortunately endowed of persons, at most be brought to say, " Bless their little heart."
