Betty Evans Obituary

Betty J. Evans 86, Rushville, died December 1, 2006 at her residence. She was born February 10, 1920 in Rushville to Francis and Marjorie (VanPelt) Knecht. She married Gene W. Evans on February 20, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1979. Also preceding Betty in death are infant son, Billy Van Evans; daughter, Susan Jones (1989); grandson, Doug Cordray; one great-grandson; husband, Gene W. Evans; and her parents, Francis and Marjorie Knecht. Betty is survived by sons, William F. (Regina) Evans, and James Van (Debbie) Evans, both of Rushville; daughters, Nancy (Robert) Leising of Milroy, Margie (Clyde) Cordray of Evansville, Diane Stevenson of Rushville, and Bettigene (Jerry) Gilpin of Rushville; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Betty was a homemaker, and was a member of Rush County Historical Society and "The Belles". She was also a Historian for Rushville High School Alumni Association, an avid IU sports fan, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1938. A Rosary Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 3 at Todd Funeral Home, 805 N. Main, Rushville, IN 46173. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 4 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 502 N. Perkins St., Rushville, IN 46173. Rev. Joseph G. Reidman will officiate. Friends and family will be received from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 3 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Hearth Association or St. Mary's Church
