Brookie Black

Indianapolis - Brookie Sue Black (Keith) of Indianapolis died on June 24, 2021. She was born April 16, 1947 in Indianapolis to the late Ozie and Nannie Jewell Keith. Her husband William F. Black survives. She worked at Eli Lilly and Company for 31 years, retiring from the Antibiotic Quality Control area.

She and Bill spent 17 years in Florida before returning to Indiana in 2014. Brookie enjoyed sewing and quilting and made many quilts for her family which will be enjoyed for years. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marsha Mangino and Carolyn Keith. Survivors include her brother Timothy Keith (Melissa) of Indianapolis, daughter Julie Franklin of Indianapolis, step-son Jeffrey Black (Tracy) of New Palestine, her grandchildren Jacob Emmert (Shelbi) of Fountaintown, Jaylen Emmert (Levi) of Abzaorkee, MT, Lauren, Mackenzie and Alexandra Black of New Palestine, and two great-grandsons, Shane Milosevich and Jaxson Emmert. Brookie was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church where she participated in the Women's Ministry and all of their functions. She has been active as a member of the clubhouse and social committees for several years. She will be dearly missed by her family and church family as well as her friends. A Memorial visitation will be on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Southport Heights Christian Church, 7154 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis, with a Celebration of Life at 6:30pm.
