I'm blessed to have known Calvin since the seventh grade. He was my best friend in high school, he introduced me to wife Lynn, and was the best man in my wedding. So when I look at my two daughters I'm reminded everyday of the impact that he has had on my life. Calvin was the most caring and giving person that I've ever known. It's still hard to believe that he is no longer with us in the flesh.

Wow, this is a sad time for many of us. Cook was a very, very good friend of my cousin, Java' Bryant. They met at St. Augustine's College. Cook was the Godfather to Java's daughter Ja'Marie whom he loved unconditionally. My Aunt “Ms. Bryant” was truly hurt and saddened to hear of Cook's passing. She had just talked with him a month ago, I do believe, when he was here in Washington, DC with his son. Cook was like a part of our family. We always enjoyed seeing and hearing from him on his many travels. When you talked with Cook, you can hear him smiling while talking with you. He always asked about everyone in the family. He would remember things from back in the day that most would not. I loved Cook like a cousin. My Aunt saw him as son. She as well as the rest of the family sends our heartfelt condolences to Cook's family and especially his children. Cook we will miss you, now you can Java' can reunite in heaven and watch over us all.

I am happy I got the opportunity to meet Calvin and to room with him in the men's honors dormatory at St. Augustine's College during our undergraduate years. Calvin was very sharing and always offering a helping hand to others. And he was funny too! So now we must live the rest of our lives with fond memories of him to keep the connection. Rest in peace, Calvin Cook! You will be missed dearly. I love you man! May God bless!

I clearly remember meeting Calvin Cook (CookieMan)for the first time at the meeting in which all the Indy graduates were heading down south to St. Aug. From then on we shared time together, talking, studying, aspiring and focusing on trying to be better and do better for others.
After leaving schoool Calvin continued his career in Cincinatti and I returned to Indpls to start my career path. Calvin inspired me to continue and finish graduate school education too.
Relocating to Milwaukee was a bittersweet moment as time and distance played a part in staying tightly connected.
Even though this happened Calvin and me talked about the 'sweet science of boxing' and would share our odds on who would win the various fights.
We also got laughs talking about kids and cheap family entertainment was easily shared.
The smile, the laugh and the sincere willingness to help..all great qualities.
I'll miss you.
Rest in Peace, friend.
With deepest sympathies to the Family.

My sincere condolences to the family. Cook and I were roommates in college and I remember how much he inspired me to finish my studies despite the obstacles that I faced. He always kept in contact with me over the years, sharing with me the blessings and challenges of life. I will forever remember the true essence of Cook as a man giving to others and never expecting anything in return. "What's up Ray"...he would always say when he called or left me a message. I will miss you my brother and cherish the memories of how you gave to this world of ours.
