Chris Chochos Obituary

Chris N. Chochos Sept 3, 1936 ~ June 9, 2008 Chris N. Chochos, 71, Marion, passed away June 9, 2008 at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born September 3, 1936 to the late Nicholas and Demetra Maheras Chochos who immigrated to Marion from Sparta, Greece. As a youngster, Chris worked for his father at Nick's Candy Kitchen and later in life operated Nick's Drive-in, both in Marion. Chris attended Purdue and Indiana Universities. He then served in the U.S. Army, being stationed in Germany and Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Peter, and his niece, Dorothea Chochos Zaharako. Chris is survived by his sisters, Liberty (John) Pasyanos, Indianapolis and Athena (Spiros) Stamus, Easton, PA; 11 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews. Greek Orthodox funeral services will be Friday, June 13, at 11:30 a.m. in Gethsemane Episcopal Church, Marion, with Father Anastasios Gounaris officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion. The family is grateful for the warm support given to Chris at the Grant County Senior Center and to the hospital staff at both Ft. Wayne Parkview and St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, Indianapolis. Arrangements are being handled by Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion.
