Donald L. Block
78, of Greenwood, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on May 13, 1934 in Schnellville, Indiana to Alois and Clara (Schnellville) Block. He married Marjorie (Kellems) Block on January 26, 1957 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Perry County, Indiana, they were married for fifty six years. Don retired in 1988 after being a truck driver for thirty years for Terminal Transport/American Freight. He was a life member of the Teamsters Union #135. Don is survived by his loving wife Margie (Kellems) Block, a sister Rosemary Becher of Dale, Indiana, three daughters and their husbands Diane and Ted Pearson, Dr. Linda and Howard Harrell, and Brenda and John Hinton all of Greenwood, Don's eleven grandchildren Emily and Justin Matteson, Nicholas Pearson (Kathleen Kelley), Christopher Pearson, Bradley Hinton, Michael Hinton, Sarah Hinton, Luke Hinton, Andrew Harrell, Marielle Harrell, Gabrielle Harrell, and Danielle Harrell. Don was looking forward to the birth of his first great grandchild in April. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Clara Block.
Don was a member of Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Greenwood and a former member of Our Lady of The Greenwood Catholic Church. Don had been very active in the Monsignor Bernard Sheridan #6138 Knights of Columbus in Greenwood serving as the Grand Knight from 2000 till 2002. Don helped with the K of C weekly bingo for many years. Don loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His love of life and sense of humor will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched. Father Vincent Lampert and Father John Hall will celebrate a Mass Of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church 5901 West Olive Branch Road in Greenwood. Visitation will be Monday from 3 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the church with a Rosary service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation P.O. Box 515, Northhampton, MA. 01061-05015 or to Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church 5901 West Olive Branch Road Greenwood, Indiana 46143. I had the wonderful opportunity to not only care for Don this last year, but get to know the family. Thank you for this time. Don will be greatly missed. My prayers for your family.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you for quite sometime.I will always remember Don as such a wonderful man and he great sense of humor.I know that has carried him a long way.Iam so sorry Margie and you will be missed.Best wishes to everyone.Just remember God does not give us anything we can not handle.Take care, Julie Arnott
