Edward Stansbury Obituary

Edward H. "Blackie" Stansbury Jr. 81, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at home in Clayton, IN with his family by his side. He was born October 23, 1924 to the late Edward H. Sr. and Stella Mae (Tucker) Stansbury in Waynetown, IN. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII having served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He landed on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion. His ship hit a mine at the Yang-ste River in China. He was a machine operator at Navistar for 28 years retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris (Brown) Stansbury, who passed away in 1956. Edward is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra A. (Heartwell) Stansbury. He is also survived by three sons: Steve H., William "Boo", and Mark E. Stansbury; three daughters: Debbie Lawson, Patty Lewis and Terry Rudd; 8 grandchildren: Joshua and April Lawson, Taffy Duncan, Bethany Hughes, Derek Rudd, Emily Taylor, John-Thomas and Nickalaus Lewis; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2006 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, IN. www.hampton-gentry.com
