Elizabeth Humble Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Lorraine Hayes King Humble Was born on February 25, 1941 and passed away on November 13, 2009. Her parents, Carl and Elizabeth Hayes, preceded her in death. Liz grew up on Hosbrook Street on the Southside of Indianapolis and later moved to the corner of McCarty and Kenwood Avenue where her parents operated Hayes General Store, which remained in operation until Mr. Hayes passed away in 1968. Liz attended Harry E. Wood High School and graduated from the School of Practical Nursing on June 28, 1968. She worked as a licensed practical nurse until her death, and for the last 29 years worked in the office of Dr. Eric Yancy. She married Joseph King, Jr. on March 6, 1959. They had seven children and divorced in 1967. She married Charles J. "Chuck" Humble on August 24, 1968. They divorced in 1973 and he preceded her in death. She leaves behind her seven children Alice Louise King, Carl King, Mark King, Sr. (LeAngela), David King, Cathy King, Karlene King, and Lisa King (Nelson McAllister); thirteen grandchildren, Mark King, Jr., Kenneath King, Jasmine Mitchell, Courtney Vance, Ciji Banks, Cedric Banks, China King, Asia King, Jaleel King-Jamerson, Jamison Mitchell, Kelli McAllister, Carl King, Jr., and Carl King II; one great-grandchild, Ja'Mya Rowland; two brothers, James Clemons and John "Tippy" Hayes (Barbara), and two sisters, Pauline Hayes Smith and Florence Hayes. Brothers Roger Clemons and Lawrence "Raymond" Hayes, and sister Winifred "Goldie" Cheeks all preceded her in death. Her former husband, Joseph, also survives her. In addition, she leaves behind 45 or so nieces and nephews, 10 or so great-nieces and nephews. Services Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Womack Memorial CME Church, 4401 N. Carrollton, Indianapolis, Indiana. Viewing 10:00am-12:00pm. Services 12:00pm-2:00pm. Craig Funeral Home in charge of service. Memorial Contributions can be made to Elizabeth Humble, in care of David King, at Fifth Third Bank, 145 N. East Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
